 FDCC News
In early December, 537 children’s books
were delivered to the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Philadelphia, which were distributed to families through a holiday gift basket along with food pantry items.
Jersey received a fun surprise with their food delivery during the holiday season.
Two months later, Federation members and their families sent handwritten Valentine’s Day
cards to senior citizens around the country. Through the Friday 5’s announcement of this latest FedSERVES project, FDCC members had the opportunity to submit the names of their relatives who spent the holiday in a facility or nursing home. Due to COVID restrictions, many had to spend the holidays without being able
to receive visitors. In addition to identifying recipients of the cards, we solicited members to make and
send their handmade creations. This was a wonderful way to remember and honor our senior citizens with a sweet gesture.
Most recently, we came together
at The Greenbrier Resort for the 2021 Annual Meeting to “Stuff
the Bus” for an event benefitting Communities in Schools of Greenbrier County, West Virginia. An Amazon Wish List was
created to identify the items of greatest need for the students and teachers in more than 17 public schools throughout the County. Our amazing members donated everything from backpacks to pencils, and everything in between. A group of members and their
families met on the Thursday morning of the Annual Meeting to assemble.
We look forward to our in-person service project at the 2022 Winter Meeting in Palm Desert and to another virtual project in the interim. We are grateful to the FDCC Executive Committee, the Board of Directors, and members for everyone’s contributions, support, and volunteerism— together, we can make a difference in the lives of the people in the communities we visit.
