There is a reason Seattleās sports teams use variations on green and blue for their colors, this city
is surrounded by
these greens and blues. Most are just about right for an afternoon adventure getting you back to
the hotel in time for our evening entertainment. A quick Uber ride or a nice walk will get you to the starting point for each itinerary.
Some of these activities will be organized by the Convention Team and others are just suggestions for you to explore on your own.
downtown with a fabulous view
of the very city you just left. Every 35 minutes or so the King County Water Taxi leaves the Pier 50 on the Seattle waterfront for West Seattle. It is a short 15 minute ride to West Seattle and a pleasant, shore side, 1-1/2 mile walk or ride (scooters and bike are available to rent at
the dock) to Alki Beach where the vibe is more California than Pacific Northwest. You will pass many cute beach shacks, lots of good eateries and a long sandy beach. The views are lovely and the mood is chill. Build sandcastles or jump into some beach volleyball. If you want a long walk or ride, continue past the lighthouse all the way to Lincoln Park where you will find a big, public, saltwater pool, forests with picnic sites, beaches and a climbing rock. Very kid friendly.
it. Within the city you will discover verdant gardens,
large parks and even tall stands
of Douglas Fir. The blue waters of lakes Washington and Union carve gorgeous shorelines defining our neighborhoods. The salt water
in Elliott Bay sparkles blue-green against the backdrop of Bainbridge Island and the distant Olympic Mountains. And, of course, because it is summer in Seattle all this scenery will be capped by blue skies!
I have listed some of my favorite ways to get out and experience
