 Looking Forward
Walk the Arboretum from Japanese Gardens to Floating Walkways
The Washington Park Arboretum is gorgeous and big enough to make you think you’ve left the
city. There are formal gardens, woods, hills, and even a boardwalk along the rushes and lily pads
of Lake Washington. The beautiful Japanese Garden is
in the Arboretum inside its own gate. Kid friendly, especially
the boardwalk along the lake. https://botanicgardens.uw.edu/ washington-park-arboretum/
Lake Washington Boulevard from Madison Park to Seward Park Walk or ride bikes along Lake Washington Boulevard passing through some of Seattle’s most
exclusive neighborhoods with lake views on one side and gorgeous homes on the other. Start in Madison Park and work your
way south. Madison Park, at the terminus of Madison Street, is
filled with charming shops and restaurants and has a nice public beach. Have lunch here and then venture southward. If you are on
a bike, you will make it all the way to Seward Park, a big park of old growth timber incongruously sitting right on very valuable lakefront. Ride the well-marked shoreline path in the park and then make your way back. If you are walking, you will likely stop at Leschi for
a beverage and then make your return trip. Kid Friendly.
60’s Reboot, Ride the Monorail to the Space Needle
This is super easy and still so much fun even 60 years after it was all built for the Seattle World’s Fair. Just walk from the hotel to the Monorail on 5th and Pine. Take the short ride to the Seattle Center and lineupforaridetothetopofthe Space Needle. From 333 feet above ground you get a fabulous view of all the blues and greens of Seattle, the waterways surrounding it and the mountains surrounding it all. You can get refreshments at the top or at many places in the Seattle Center. Very kid friendly.

Get Out on Lake Union
Lake Union is right in the city and connected to the much bigger Lake Washington by the scenic Montlake Cut and the salt waters of Puget Sound via the Ballard Locks. Lake Union is surrounded by Seattle’s floating home communities,
many marinas and several parks, Gasworks to the north and Lake Union Park on the downtown shore. Both parks are great spots to just sit and watch the action on the lake. Tuesday, late afternoon the lake fills
