The FDCC was
founded more
than 75 years ago.
Those who led the
organization since
its formation, to
those leading the
organization at present, have
their eyes focused on the future
of the FDCC. As part of this
focus on the future, the FDCC is
extending its outreach, which is
why it recently formed a Social
Media Committee. The purpose
of the Social Media Committee is
fourfold: 1. share information; 2.
generate excitement; 3. encourage
family engagement; and 4. solidify
organizational community bonds.
While these are the initial reasons
for the Social Media Committee’s
formation, there are additional
benefits that will arise as a
byproduct of the Committee’s good
work.
Share Information
The primary purpose of social
media at its heart is to share
information with the poster’s
audience. The information shared
can be informative, amusing,
and/or helpful. In the case of the
FDCC, one of its goals within
its current strategic plan is to
provide consistent and informative
communications. While updated
information can regularly be
found on its website, posting the
information on its social media
platforms can and will provide real
time updates and reminders to
its audience of the organization’s
purpose and mission as well as
the unique opportunities it offers
its members to enhance skills and
leadership. Further, by sharing the
information on social media, its
audience has the opportunity to
share the posts with their network
of connections there by expanding
the spread of consistent and
informative communications from
the FDCC.
Generate Excitement
Through posting persistent, high-
quality content on social media
platforms, the FDCC will create
a “buzz” of excitement about
the benefits of membership and
upcoming events. The posts will
provide continual coverage of the
anticipated meetings, the exciting
host cities, and, importantly, the
cutting-edge legal education and
networking that FDCC members
will have access to. Creating a
“buzz” around the upcoming
events will further position FDCC
membership and events as elite and
appealing.
Encourage Family Engagement
A unique attribute of the FDCC
from other legal organizations
is its focus and offering of family
engagement at its largest events of
the year. Until a person is further
acquainted with the FDCC, they
may not know of this opportunity.
