REDESIGNING THE ICONIC SURF LIFESAVING CAP
The nipper and SLSC patrol cap desperately needs to be redesigned as a hybrid between the surf lifesaving the traditional cap and a sun protecting cap.
The problem with the present cap is that its extremely inefficient with its materials and its jobs or responsibilities. It serves its purpose as identification in the water but what about sun protection with the increasing the numbers of skin cancer patients within Australia?
Function and design will be essential to the success of this project. First I will need to interview and discuss -
the current design and the awareness of melanoma cancer rates.

Most patrolling members I saw had adapted the use of the patrolling cap themselves, by adding a 2nd hat, which was uncomfortable and cumbersome.
