After my interview day, I knew UCSD Med-Peds was my dream residency program! It
had everything I was looking for in a residency program, which included strong clinical
training in both internal medicine and pediatrics, supportive program leadership, a tight-
knit group of residents, and the opportunity to serve a diverse and underserved patient
population! This has all revealed itself to be true as a resident here. Since Match day in
2019, I have felt so well-supported as a member of the UCSD Med-Peds family. Even with
big life changes, like the birth of my son during residency, I felt like the program truly valued
my personal wellness and made every effort to be there for my wife and I (which I'm so
grateful for!). Throughout residency, I considered every possible career (just ask Dr. Wan!).
Here, I felt like I had every opportunity to explore all aspects of internal medicine and
pediatrics, as well as the support from Dr. Wan and Dr. Pardee who were always so
encouraging with whatever career I was interested in. I was able to pursue research and
craft elective experiences that helped me ultimately decide on a career in
Gastroenterology (focused on transitions of care in IBD)..
