At Village Health Center in Indianola, IA, once listless residents are awakening to the possibilities of friendship and community in households. Their open breakfast was described in the transformational section of this workbook, but their residents enjoy the full benefits of household living.
Pennybyrn at Maryfield, in High Point, NC, described in the transformational section, is well over a year into the journey toward full households. Their kitchens offer a unique design (required for regulatory compliance) that features a full household kitchen with a full institutional kitchen along the back wall of the same room. Their dining services leader, a chef and a teacher of future chefs, will prepare bulk lunch and supper entrées in their new, state-of-the-art production kitchen which is on the grounds, but not attached. They will deliver food chilled to be cooked off in each household kitchen. Imagine the appetite stimulation as the savory aromas of turkey or meatloaf permeate their household!
