Appealing to Staff’s Conscience
The Eden Alternative founders consider meaningful activity so important they made
it one of their principles. The sixth Eden Principle states, “Meaningless activity corrodes the human spirit. The opportunity to do things that we find meaningful is essential to human health.”
There is a famous anonymous saying in the field of activities which says this another way: “The purpose of activities is not to kill time but to make time live;
not to keep a person occupied, but to keep him refreshed;
not to offer an escape from life, but to provide a discovery of life.”
