Activities That Equalize Staff and Residents
Familiar, customary activities put staff members and residents on the same plane much like learning circles equalize all participants. The more equalizing activities you coordinate, the more residents will feel equal with staff despite their care needs.
There are many such activities:
• Decorating the household.
• Cooking and baking (as long as
residents are truly involved.)
• Playing jokes on one another (as long as
the persons targeted by the jokes are
agreeable with it.)
• Planning and hosting baby and wedding
showers.
• Birthday celebrations according to the
birthday person’s wishes.
• Preparing a float for a parade.
• Going to rummage sales
