Just Ask
Sometimes just asking a staff member to
join or lead an activity is enough to get them enthusiastically involved – maybe they have never been invited until now. Better yet, entice them to join in an activity you know they especially enjoy. For instance, invite the avid softball fan to attend a ball game with residents. Or ask the maintenance man, a cowboy from Wyoming, to share his rodeo stories. This comes naturally when you truly begin to know people. It is the knowing that is most vital.
Community Learning Circle Questions
Who do we know among the volunteers, family and staff members outside our household who may respond to an invitation to lead us in an activity?
What interests do we know they have?
How could we find out more about everyone to create a pool of interests for household activities?
