Ethnic Representation
Besides appealing to staff’s activity interests, also consider tapping into their and the residents’ nationalities. Celebrate ethnic backgrounds with music and entertainment, food, history, trivia and arm chair travel using videos or slide shows. Invite staff’s involvement in whatever they are comfortable doing: leading a discussion, talking about a country or tradition, wearing festive clothing, showing pictures or making a meal or special dish. What another great way to get to know each other!

Ask everyone to share a tradition from their ethnic heritage. Then open up for a discussion about how we might experience and share these things in the household.
