Daily Life Is Everyone’s Job
In a household, chores get done as a matter
of course and when someone needs a hand, whoever is closest helps out. Sometimes there is a division of labor because someone really doesn’t mind doing the dishes while someone else prefers to vacuum. And sometimes we take turns with the “fun” jobs and the “dirty” jobs. There are times when we say, “Today, we’re going to do some spring cleaning” or set a weekend aside for a project. But most days, we replace the toilet paper roll when we notice it is low and throw a load of laundry in when we have a minute.
We are all versatile and cross-trained workers in our own homes so it stands to reason that a household team of versatile and cross-trained workers makes for a more normal pace and tone of daily life. The team can unite behind goals of keeping the household clean and comfortable, bringing pleasure to the residents, watching out for each other, etc. The workday becomes less stressful and hectic.
