Accountability is Vital
While team members must have crucial conversations, supervisors have to hold people accountable. This is vital. Holding people accountable motivates them to either shape
up or ship out. Accountability needs to go both ways. The staff member wanting to decorate, for example, probably should have discussed her ideas and wishes to account for her teammates ideas and wishes too. Maybe everyone would have enjoyed decorating a little; maybe one would rather have cared for residents while the others decorated. The
key is to be open about it and not ignore your duties and frustrate fellow staff members.
