Photographs-Videos
Associates may not take digital or still photographs or record audio or video footage with personal Cell Phones or PDAs while on the premises of T h e P i p e r location, division or operating unit, including pictures or videos of residents, family members, associates or visitors. This prohibition includes the use of a “camera function” or “video or audio recording function” on Cell Phones or PDAs. Further, associates are strictly prohibited from posting pictures or videos of residents, family members or associates on personal social media pages, such as Facebook. Associates who are requested by The Piper leadership to take photographs as part of their work responsibilities must follow the established Company policy to assure confidentiality and privacy requirements are met.
Company-Provided Cell Phones & PDAs
Where job or business needs demand immediate access to an associate, the Company may issue a Company owned Cell Phone to such associate for work-related communications. These Cell Phones are to be used for business purposes only. However, associates traveling on Company business may use the Company-provided Cell Phone to call home and check on family matters during said travel. Such calls (including those incoming calls from home and family) should be few in number and short in duration. Associates whose personal use of a Company-issued Cell Phone exceeds these guidelines may (1) have Company Cell Phone privileges and access suspended or terminated; (2) be subject to discipline and (3) be required to reimburse the Company for any charges related to excessive personal use of the Cell Phone.
Associates may not use Company provided Cell Phones to deliver or receive text messages unless it is company business and appropriate to do so. All texts are subject for review at any time. Residents’ names or identities should never be indicated in these messages. Where reasonable, the text messaging option will be disabled when the Cell Phone is issued.
Associates in possession of Company Cell Phones are expected to protect the equipment from loss, damage or theft. Upon resignation or termination of employment, or at any time upon request, the associate may be asked to i m m e d i a t e l y produce the Cell Phone for return or for inspection. Associates unable to present the Cell Phone in good working condition within a reasonable time may be expected to pay for a replacement phone. Associates who separate from employment with an outstanding debt to the Company for excessive Company Cell Phone use or for loss or damage to a Company Cell Phone may be classified as ineligible for rehire and may be subject to legal action.
Conversations and text messages that occur on Cell Phones are not confidential and can be monitored by outsiders. Associates should exercise caution when discussing confidential, sensitive information when using either a personal or Company Cell Phone for business reasons and associates and should refrain from discussing the protected health information of residents while using Cell Phones.
Safety Issues for Cellular Phone Use While Driving
Associates whose job responsibilities including driving Company vehicles or who operate personal vehicles while on Company business, are expected to refrain from using their personal or Company issued Cell Phone and/or PDA while driving or operating the vehicle. This includes sending or receiving email or text messages. Regardless of the circumstances, associates are strongly encouraged to pull off to the side of the road and safely stop the vehicle before placing or receiving a call or text message. If acceptance of a call is unavoidable – and stopping the vehicle is not feasible – associates must use hands- free options, keep the calls as short as possible and keep their eyes on the road. Further, associates are expected to be familiar with and follow all applicable traffic laws and regulations including those related to the use of Cell Phones and text messaging in the locations where they drive.
