Associate Handbook
Associates who are charged with traffic violations or speeding tickets resulting from the use of a personal or Company issued Cell Phone or PDA while driving will be solely responsible for all costs, fines and liabilities that result.
Violations of this policy will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
NO SOLICITATION POLICY
In order to avoid interruption of work and disruption of business operations, and to ensure the safety of its residents and families, The Piper prohibits unauthorized solicitation and distribution as permitted by applicable law.
Definitions
Solicitation: The attempt to encourage or persuade an individual or individuals to support, accept, join or promote any cause, campaign, drive, effort or organization for commercial, charitable, political, religious or philosophical purposes; or the request of contributions and/or donations for any purpose regardless of the amount.
Distribution: The dissemination or circulation by any means of any written, printed, audio or video material of all kinds, including but not limited to leaflets, letters, announcements, petitions, electronic media, bulletins, handbills, advertising material, newsletters, catalogues or pamphlets.
Company Property: For purposes of this policy, Company Property includes all property, locations and areas, including Resident Care/Services Areas and the parking lot, but excludes Non-Work Areas as defined below.
Non-Work Areas: For purposes of this policy Non-Work Areas is defined as designated associate break areas, locker rooms, Associate rest rooms, and the area normally traveled by the associate between the building and the parking lot, if applicable.
Non-Working Time: includes time normally spent on Company Property traveling from the parking lot to the building prior to the associate clocking in, time traveling from work area to the car after work after clocking out, authorized meal and break time and off-duty time spent in associate rest rooms, locker rooms, lounges, and personal clean up time.
Resident Care/Service Areas: are areas such as resident rooms, apartments, nursing stations, elevators used primarily to transport residents or while residents are present on any elevator, sitting rooms and adjacent areas, or in any area where residents may congregate or that are devoted to residents and resident care or services, such as resident dining rooms and therapy areas.
Working Time: The time an associate is expected to be performing her/his job duties, excluding meal and break periods.
Prohibited Conduct
Associates may not Distribute or disseminate materials as defined above during Working time or at any time in working areas or Resident Care/Service Areas.
Associates may not solicit other associates for any purpose during the Working Time of either associate on Company Property.
