6.2 CARBON FIBER STRENGTHENING
We're now utilizing a newly developed technology for retrofitting and
strengthening concrete structures. This innovative approach uses carbon fiber
cloth or strips to externally strengthen concrete, offering engineers a versatile
tool. Unlike traditional methods that required steel beams to be installed
underneath slabs, reducing headroom and flexibility, carbon fiber strengthening
provides a more adaptable solution. It can be designed to work around existing
utilities, ensuring minimal disruption to mechanical and electrical components.
