I am not a phycologist or professional in the word of behavioural sciences.
However, ten years of being one of the thin blue line brought me a
fascination and immeasurable experience of the human psyche, supplying
many answers as to why people, and in particular, the criminal fraternity
behave the way they do. Why do they think differently, why do they do
things most of us would consider unimaginable based on our upbringings?
These experiences continue to serve me very well in everyday life. I present
them not for any self-gratification. So many of the experiences contained
lessons too valuable to keep to myself. I am pleased to share them here with
you. I hope you find them interesting and thought provoking.
I have not compiled these memories for any self-gratification. There are many
events in the career of a police officer that bring experiences that I thought
should be shared for the benefit of all.
INNOCENT OR GUILTY- YOU DECIDE
Throughout the pages of this
book, reference is made to
offences and perpetrators
encountered by the author
whilst in service, or by reference
to offences and suspects of
much reported crimes.
In all instances I will try to
present an impersonal,
objective based perspective.
Only when guilt is beyond
question, (actus reus = when
criminals are ‘in the act’) or
when conviction at court is secured will guilt be assumed. Wherever possible,
interpretations from both sides of the circumstances will be included to
provide the reader with a balanced perspective. The reader is of course free
to arrive at their own conclusions.
I have taken the liberty of changing a few names to protect both the guilty
and the innocent.
Best wishes
Steve
