Pleasant Words from the Gospel

Praise be to the God... of compassion and the God Who
comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort
those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves
have received from God... If we are distressed, it is
for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted,
it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient
endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And
our hope for you is firm, because we know that just
as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in
our comfort. (2 Corinthians, 1:3-7)

These are they who have come out of the great
tribulation. Therefore, "they serve Him [God] day
and night in His temple"... (Revelation, 7:14-15)

Looking at his disciples, he [Jesus] said: "Blessed
are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom
of God [paradise]. Blessed are you who hunger
now, for you will be satisfied... Blessed are you
when men hate you, when they exclude you and in-
sult you and reject your name as evil, because of the
Son of Man [Jesus] [for God's sake]." Rejoice in that
day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in
heaven. For that is how their fathers treated the
prophets. (Luke, 6:20-23)
