Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are
those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be
filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart... (Matthew, 5:5-8)

... If a man cleanses himself from the latter [inferior works], he
will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy... and pre-
pared to do any good work. Flee the evil desires of youth, and
pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those
who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. (2 Timothy, 2:21-22)

... Their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts
now accusing, now even defending them. This will take place
on the day when God will judge men's secrets... as my Gospel

                 declares. (Romans, 2:14-16)

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will
flee from you. Come near to God and He will come near to you.
Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you
                 double-minded. (James, 4:7-8)

... As was said before: "Today, if you hear His voice [God's rev-

elation], do not harden your hearts." (Hebrews, 4:7)
... Pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those
who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. (2 Timothy, 2:22)

Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he
were your father. Treat younger men as brothers, older women
as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute pu-
rity. Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in
                 need. (1 Timothy, 5:1-3)
