Pleasant Words from the Gospel
Not to Steal
He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must
work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may
have something to share with those in need. (Ephesians, 4:28)
[Jesus:] "You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adul-
tery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony,
honor your father and mother.'" "All these I have kept since I
was a boy," he said. (Luke, 18:20-21; Matthew 19:17-19)
"Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There
is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the
commandments." "Which ones?" the man inquired. Jesus
replied, " 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal,
do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother,' and
'love your neighbor as yourself.'" "All these I have kept," the
young man said. (Matthew, 19:17-19)
The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not mur-
der," "Do not steal," "Do not covet," and whatever other com-
mandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule:
"Love your neighbor as yourself." (Romans, 13:9-10)
If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any
other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you
suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that
you bear that name. (1 Peter, 4:15-16)
If you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light
for those who are in the dark, an instructor of the foolish, a
teacher of infants, because you have in the law the embodiment
