Pleasant Words from the Gospel
But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual im-
morality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these
are improper for God's holy people. Nor should there be ob-
scenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, let
there be thankfulness to God. Let no one deceive you with emp-
ty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those
who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them...
(Ephesians, 5:3-7)
For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the
lustful desires of sinful human nature, they entice people who
are just escaping from those who live in error. (2 Peter, 2:18)
Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn
away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is
falsely called knowledge, which some have professed and in so
doing have wandered from the faith. May God's grace be with
you all. (1 Timothy, 6:20-21)
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and de-
ceptive [irreligious] philosophy, which depends on human tra-
dition and the basic principles of this world. (Colossians, 2:8)
