Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you.
Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.
(Hebrews, 13:7)
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but
only what is helpful for building others up according to their
needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (Ephesians, 4:29)
What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together,
everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction... a tongue or an
interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthen-
ing of the community. (1 Corinthians, 14:26)
Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he
were your father. Treat younger men as brothers, older
women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with ab-
solute purity. Give proper recognition to those widows who
are really in need. (1 Timothy, 5:1-3)
But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech [in
preaching the religion of God], in knowledge, in complete
earnestness and in your love for us-, see that you also excel in
this grace of giving. (2 Corinthians, 8:7)
Abstaining from Gossip
For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you as I want
you to be, and you may not find me as you want me to be. I fear
that there may be quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, fac-
tions, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder. (2 Corinthians,
12:20)
