Pleasant Words from the Gospel

kept back part of the money for himself, but brought part of the
money to the apostles. Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that
satan has so filled your heart that you have lied... and have

kept for yourself some of the money you received for the
land? Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it
was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you
think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to
                   God." (Acts, 5:1-4)

Now about the collection for God's people: Do what I told the
Galatian churches to do. On the first day of every week, each
one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with
his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections
will have to be made. Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of
introduction to the men you approve and send them with your
                   gift... (1 Corinthians, 16:1-4)

Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves,
men will praise God for the obedience that
accompanies your confession of the Gospel,
and for your generosity in sharing with
them and with everyone else. (2 Corinthi-
                                      ans, 9:13)

All the believers were together and had
                                         everything in common. Selling their
possessions and goods, they gave to
anyone as he had need. Every
                                                  day they continued to meet

                                                 together in the temple courts.
They broke bread in their homes
