Pleasant Words from the Gospel
The transitory nature of the life of
this world:
GOSPEL: Do not love the world or anything in the world. If
anyone loves the world, the love of God is not in him. For
everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of
his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not
from God but from the world. The world and its desires pass
away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. (1
John, 2:15-17)
GOSPEL: ... Live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear
[of God]. For you know that it was not with perishable things
such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty
way of life handed down to you from your forefathers. (1 Peter,
1:17-18)
QURAN: Allah expands provision to anyone He wills and re-
stricts it. They rejoice in the life of this world. Yet the life of
this world, compared to the hereafter, is only fleeting enjoy-
ment. (Surat ar-Rad, 26)
QURAN: There is the enjoyment of this world. Then they
will return to Us. Then We will let them taste the terrible pun-
ishment because they disbelieved. (Surah Yunus, 70)
