Squirrels pick up their young by the loose skin of their ab-
domens. If her nest is destroyed, a mother squirrel carries her
baby even further away. She carries one baby at a time and re-
turns to the nest until every baby has been safely evacuated.
All creatures, from insects to lions and from frogs to birds,
protect their young by carrying them in this way. But what
causes them all to take such great pains and risk their own lives

to protect their young? Once again, we can only conclude that
they act according to the inspiration that Allah, Who controls
everything that exists, has placed within them. In one of these
verses our Lord says:
His Footstool encompasses the heavens
and Earth, and their preservation
does not tire Him. He is the Most
High, the Magnificent. (Surat al-
