Be told the good news of the Mahdi. He is one from the
Quraysh and from my Ahl al-bayt.

The Mahdi is one of my chil dren. His face is like a star
shin ing in the sky.

All pro phets are relat ed to one anoth er. As stat ed in
the had iths, the Mahdi will also be of that line. These
descend ants are pop u lar ly known as "say y id," and so
the Mahdi will also be a "say y id."
In the Qur'an Allah refers to mes sen gers being
descend ed from one anoth er. These vers es may also
indi cate that the Mahdi will be descend ed from that
line. (Allah knows the truth.)
Allah chose Adam and Nuh, the fam i ly of Ibrahim,
and the fam i ly of ‘Imran over all other beings –
descend ants one of the other. Allah is All-Hearing,
All-Knowing. (Surah Al ‘Imran, 33-34)
Our Lord, make us both Muslims sub mit ted to You,
and our descend ants a Muslim com mu ni ty sub mit -
ted to You. Show us our rites of wor ship and turn
toward us. You are the Ever-Returning, the Most
Merciful. (Surat al-Baqara, 128)
And some of their fore bears, descend ants and broth -
ers; We chose them and guid ed them to a straight
path. (Surat al- An‘am, 87)
