          THE MAHDI IS A SUBJECT NEEDING
          TO BE WIDELY BROADCAST
          RATHER THAN KEPT HIDDEN



         Talk of the Mahdi is one of the Portents of
                       His Appearance
          In his works, Bediuzzaman Said Nursi, the reviv er
        (mujad did) of the 13th cen tu ry Hijri, has made a num ber
        of impor tant state ments that serve as a guide to all
        Muslims con cern ing the com ing of the Mahdi and the
        way that he will be a rea son for Islamic moral val ues to
        pre vail all over the world. Some cir cles, how e ver, main -
        tain that, "it would be wrong and objec tion a ble in many
        ways to speak open ly of the sub ject of the Mahdi," to
        which Bediuzzaman devot ed con sid er a ble space in his
        works.
          The fact is, how e ver, that "The Mahdi is a sub ject
        need ing to be broad cast, rath er than hid den or con -
        cealed." The glad tid ings, of the com ing of the Mahdi,
        have been impart ed by our Prophet (saas) him self; there
        are a num ber of had iths of our Prophet (saas) on the
        sub jects that are regard ed as com plete ly reli a ble. In
