                 Tribute by Grandchild
“The righteous perishes and no man takes it to heart. Merciful men are taken away, while no one considers that the righteous is
taken away to be spared from evil”. He shall enter into peace; they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.”
                 (Isa. 57:1).

I could never fathom how she was always calm, kind and peaceful; she seemed to have everything under control. With a fixed
positioned head and eyeballs rolling in every direction, grandma monitored every activity around her without moving an inch.

She played several roles in my life: a father, a mother, a grandmother … and never complained. During and even after her active
days as a teacher, she did other businesses, just so she could provide for me and everyone under her roof. She was always offering
a helping hand one way or the other to someone who needed it.

As a Christian, she inculcated in me a habit of prayer. I often tagged along during some of her prayer meetings and I believe that
God used those periods to make me realize the power of prayer. I could hear her every morning, sitting on her bed and praying.
Grandma was also an ardent follower of politics, and never missed her favorite political programs on radio and TV. Whenever family
and friends who share a mutual interest in politics visited, she made it a point to create the awareness that her choice of political
                 party was the best.
Her love for children was immeasurable. Seated at her favorite position in her corridor, grandma had a way of making children feel
at ease and comfortable around her. On countless occasions, I witnessed how she communicated with and organized them in a very
skilful, yet playful manner. She usually gave them sweets whenever she could.

You taught me extreme patience, you taught me humility, you taught me to appreciate the little things in life, you taught me how
to cook, and as difficult as it was, you taught me how to love. You have been to me, a blessing in disguise. Consciously and
unconsciously, you have affected my life in an incredibly positive way, and I will never forget all the efforts you made and steps you
took to make life comfortable for me. I thank you.

When I carried you in my arms after you gave up your last breath, I knew at that instant, that simultaneously, you were being
welcomed to Heaven by Jesus. I know that you are at a better place, where the streets are made of gold, where there is no night,
and no sorrow, a place where you will experience joy, forever and ever. Finally, a place where you can sing your favorite song
nonstop; YƐSU, MENNI OBIARA ƐKA WOHO, MANI ƐDA WOSO.

Until we meet again, may you rest in peace.

                 Rest in Perfect Peace.
