Double Connection Knot
The double connection knot is exactly what its name suggests – two knots tied into
one another and then pulled together. Half of one flat knot forms half of the other.
The result is a knot with a tight body but no outer loops. Different double connec-
tion knots can be achieved by varying the number of flat knots that are included and
the method of hooking them up. The different types of double connection knots are
shown below.
Modified Knots
The knotting technique of the double connection knot involves hooking up two flat
knots followed by vertical tightening. One cord end is used to tie a flat knot around
the other cord end. Then the other cord end is used to tie a flat knot around the first
cord end, linking through the loop of the first flat knot. The “x” pattern will appear
naturally if the cord is pulled from both top and bottom of the knot with equal force.
Generally, the double connection knot is a very simple knot without a great deal of
variation possible in its structure.
Modified Knot Bodies
The number of flat knots and the method of hooking them up can be varried to pro-
duce a horizontal double connection knot, a single loop double connection knot and
a long double connection knot.
Single loop double connection
knot (see page 100).
Long double connection knot
(see page 101).
Horizontal double connection
knot (see page 99).
