Strap Knot
This is done by hooking up two flat knots of the same weave, then tightening them
using the Buddha knot method. A loose knot is formed in this way. The Japanese like
to use the strap knot for decoration.
TYING INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1. Tie a simple knot, then tie another with the cord hooking through the loop of
the first. Steps 2, 3. Pull the knot tight, first horizontally, then vertically.
HINT
This is not a very stable knot and has to be pulled very tight to keep its shape, espe-
cially if synthetic cord is used. Once the desired shape is set, you might want to stitch
the body of the knot together.
