Type 1(a) Compound Cloverleaf Knot
This is made from the basic cloverleaf knot using the technique of pulling and wrap-
ping the next loop. Extend an ear loop and wrap around the next loop it encounters.
TYING INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1. Make ear loop 1 as shown below. Step 2. Pull ear loop 2 through 1. Step 3. Pull
ear loop 3 through 1 and 2 and wrap around 1. Step 4. Pull ear loop 4 through 2 and
3 and wrap around 1 and 2.
HINTS
When tightening the knot, pull the cords firmly so that the central body does not
become loose. At the same time, make sure the cords lie flat and do not twist, bend or
kink. Gently pull the slack out of the outer loops. If tied properly, the knot will be
highly elegant and slightly three-dimensional in appearance.
