Good Luck Knot with Compound Outer Loops
This is an example of a good luck knot with four compound outer loops. Change the
knotting technique of the second layer to achieve this compound good luck knot with
bigger loops covering smaller ones.
TYING INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1. Tie the first layer using the basic good luck knotting technique. Step 2. Tie
the back face (i.e. the one without small outer loops) of the second layer in an anti-
clockwise direction. Press ear loop 1 on 2 and insert into 3. Step 3. Press ear loop 2 on
1 and 3 and insert into 4. Step 4. Press ear loop 3 on 2 and 4 and insert into 1. Step 5.
Press ear loop 4 on 3, pull through 1 and insert into 2. Tighten cords in the direction
of the arrows.
HINTS
• Be aware that the shorter outer loops in this knot can shrink easily into the knot
body and make it loose.
• To produce a slightly different effect, you can lengthen the outer loops on the inside
and shorten those on the outside during the tightening process.
