In 1901 the Scotneys were still living in Barrowden but by 1911
they have moved to West Street in Kings Cliffe with 16-year-old
James working as an agricultural labourer.
He is listed as one of the Kings Cliffe men who had signed on in
1914 in the New Army.
He joined the 5th Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment on 1th
September 1914. After training they went to France on 31st May
1915.
