eventually discharged on 14th March 1918. He was then
36 years old. He was considered to be 40% disabled and was
awarded a pension of 16/- a week (£0.80) to be reviewed after
14 weeks.
The Stamford & Rutland News 23rd January 1918 reported.

“Kings Cliffe. Home Again. – Many friends of Private Ernest Bollans
will be pleased to know that he has arrived home, and is to resume
work on the Apethorpe Estate”.

He died in 1961, his death being registered in Stamford.
His son Jim still lives in the village on West Street.

BOLLANS Thomas William
Driver 156717 Royal Horse Artillery
Thomas was born 1887 in Kings Cliffe to George and Elizabeth
Bollans of Park Street, Kings Cliffe.
He worked as a coal carter and enlisted on the 10th November 1915.
On enlistment he was 5ft 7in tall (1.7m) and weighed 130lb (59kg).
He went to France on 12th Nov 1917 and survived the war
without injury. He died in 1941, his death being registered in
Oundle.

BRADLEY Frank
Possibly 7346, 1st Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment
He was in the Regular Army and went to France on 13th August 1918.
He is mentioned in Rev Bryan’s extract from local papers.

BRITTEN George William
Probably Private 9813 1st Battalion, Northamptonshire
Regiment
George was born 1894 in Kings Cliffe to William and Louisa
Britten of West Street, Kings Cliffe.
He joined the Regular Army on about 10th January 1914.
He is mentioned in Rev Bryan’s extracts from local papers.
