In a letter to the newspaper, he is listed as one of those signing
up for the New Army from Kings Cliffe in 1914.

GIDDINGS Albert
Possibly Private 12260 Lincolnshire Regiment
Born 1893 in Kings Cliffe, Albert was the son of Harry and Selina
Giddings.
He married Sybil Booth at Oakham in 1916, and their son,
Albert, was born in 1918. His death was recorded in Stamford
in December 1965 aged 72.

GIDDINGS George Henry

Born in 1878 in Stamford, George was the son of James and
Rosiana Giddings of Bridge Street, Kings Cliffe.
He is mentioned in the Dixon letter to the Stamford & Rutland
News, which said:-

“He was 39 years old, a married man with seven children when he
joined up in December 1915”.

His next of kin was his wife Ellen and their address was The
Cross Keys in Cliffe.
He went to France in March 1917, but we have no other records
of his service there.
He survived the war and died in Kings Cliffe in 1954 aged 75.

GIDDINGS James
Possibly Private 31335 Northamptonshire Regiment
James Giddings was born 1885 in Kings Cliffe and was the son
of Harry and Selina Giddings of Old Rose Lodge, Kings Cliffe.
Aged 21, James married Susan Mary Beale in October 1907,
and between 1909 and 1927 they had seven children.
James died in 1975 aged 89.
