Born 1896 in Duddington, John was the son of Henry and Selina
Giddings. His parents were born in Kings Cliffe and moved back
there in 1897 to Old Rose Lodge.
John joined the Suffolk Regiment and went to the war in France.
He was killed, possible at the Battle of the Somme at Ancre
Heights, on 18th October 1916. He was just 21 years old.
He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial panel
