Your Child Deserves the

          Best Available Program

“Ms. Swaney, why do you teach all your

students as if they are G/T students?”
a colleague of mine asked one day. I

looked up, spoke not a word, but my
mind was screaming. Aren’t they all
gifted and talented until adults mess

them up? To me, we should teach all
students as gifted and talented learners.

I never understood why some get a
        better curriculum than others.

Everything a child needs can be taught
        in an impactful multisensory way

allowing for new material to be layered
on top the following school year. A
reading unit is so much more than

a novel study. There are many more
components to a total immersion unit.

        Geography, map skills, history, survival
skills, folklore, and poetry all combine
to increase the richness of learning.

        Students come alive with excitement
and their eyes light up when they are

absorbed and have ownership in their
learning. That is what I always looked
for, the sparkle in their eyes.

We studied The Man in the Iron Mask,

        Beowulf, Shipwrecks, The Dust Bowl,
