IWMA Partnering with Stop Soldier Suicide
I was recently introdued to some members of an amazing organization at Daytona International Speedway on the Sunday of the Cup race, by Ginger Rust. I met Ginger at Michigan International Speedway last summer. Ginger is the Chief Marketing Officer for the Ryan Newman NASCAR team. Ginger is an advocate for this organization, and had asked me if I would like to interview one of the founders and the new CEO. I jumped at the chance, and was able to not only do a Facebook live, I was able to spend some time with them before the race. Ginger became involved because she has two sons, one is still in the military, and one was in the military, and is now out and married.
Ginger guessed I might be interested in being in- volved because even though no one in my family has been in the military, I did lose my son to suicide in November. When she told me how this organization helps thousands of fami- lies left behind by a family member’s suicide, as well as help- ing military members find answers to prevent more suicides, I wanted to do whatever I could to help. StopSoldierSuicide. Org has over 3500 groups and organizations who are avail- able to help these people, and we will be joining with them to get the word out.
