Burn Out the Bully -An Interview with Taylor Thring
By: Linda Spangler
Taylor Thring is a Ford Mustang Mini Stock racer from Ontario Canada who currently races in the Mini Stock class. She is definitely an overcomer with a terrible back story. In the 12th grade she was bullied to the point that she had to leave school. But, she didn’t let that stop her. She not only graduated from 12th grade, but is now enrolled at Fanshawe College in the Business Marketing Program. After she graduates she plans to get an undergrad in Journalism. “If everything goes right, I would like to stay in the path of motor- sports, but on the business side of things. I would love to be a promoter for a race team/driver/track an an- nouncer, or social media head.”
But, Taylor hasn’t stopped there. In order to make a difference for others who have been through similar situations and to spread the word that Bully- ing is not okay she founded an anti-bullying campaign #burnoutthebully. Anyone who has been through this experience needs to know that they aren’t alone and because of her experience, her philosophy about life is to “Race your race, what other people think of you doesn’t matter. Just live your life the way you want.” Through her racing and campaign she wants to use it to make a difference. You can follow Taylor’s prog- ress at #burnoutthebully and on Facebook BurnOut- TheBully.

Her most memorable race was when she won her first Go Kart race. “That year was a really hard year for my family, I wasn’t racing full time, and I had wrecked my Race car the weekend before. I went back to my old stomping grounds to try and regain some confidence and did just that. I really cher- ish that day because it
