 Why they had parted, made a way
But all had seen it was not then he should be sacrificed
For three more years they heard of him, ministering to all
Till the Roman Pilate had him tried
Then that he was crucified
Some in the town just shook their heads - an inevitable downfall
But others, secretly, they followed him, remembering how he’d been Walking through a riotous crowd
Who ended quiet, meek and cowed
They recognised the Son of Man, they knew what they had seen
So when they heard he rose again, had fought and conquered death They let their minds-eye wander back, to a cliff-top o’er the town The vivid picture of his face, alight with strength and grace Convicted them to turn around, and Jesus love embrace
