Taunton (A361)”
Follow the A39 across Zoyland to Bridgwater, then through Nether Stowey to the Quantock Hills
Area of Natural Beauty.
If you want to get to Barnstaple in a hurry, take the M5 from Bridgewater and the A361 into
Barnstaple.
Otherwise, the A39 continues through Williton and Porlock along the Exmoor Heritage Coast to
Hillsford Bridge.
57.5 mi 51.2296,-3.8292 In Lynmouth you take take a left turn to remain on the A39 s/p
“Blackmoor Gate / Barnstaple / A39” or go str. ahd on to the B3234 which is a shorter way but
involves a steep climb on a winding road. Very pretty, though. It rejoins the A39 in about 1.5 miles.

Barnstaple to Penzance and Land’s End

The first stage of the journey westwards towards the Cornish border follows one of the
most dramatic seascapes in Britain. The North Devon Coast is classed as an Area of
Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a chain of magnificent towering cliffs dropping steeply to
the sea.
Distance 108 miles, about 2 1/2 hours plus stops.
Relatively easy navigation – just follow the A39 and A30. Most of the attractions are on side trips
