The Quick Way
On this option the only place of real interest is Tolpuddle. If you know anything about the history of
trade unions you’ll recognise the name from the phrase Tolpuddle Martyrs.

0.0 mi 50.7001, -2.4475 Remain on or return to the A35 from Dorchester.
5.0 mi 50.7540,-2.3459 In Puddletown exit left s/p “Blandford / Milborne / St Andrew / A354” and
“Piddlehinton B3142”. (Isn’t that just a classic English name for a town?).
Follow the A354 to Salisbury
33.6 mi 51.0558, -1.7962 After entering the city go str. thru a small r/bout s/p “Ring Rd / A354”).
Shortly after, at Harnham Junction, take the 2nd exit on to New Bridge Rd, s/p “Ring Rd /
Marlborough / A338”. At that point you’ll catch your first glimpse of Salisbury Cathedral’s spire
Follow New Bridge Rd across the Avon River. Go str. thru the next r/bout on to Exeter St.
Expert Navigator checkpoint: As you make that right hand turn you’ll see the castellated stone
walls of the cathedral grounds on your left.
Follow Exeter St on to St Johns St and turn l. at the end of the cathedral wall on to New St.
The Cloisters pub is on the corner of New and St John St. The Old George Mall shoppers’ carpark
is about 100 yds along on the r. in New St
If you continue along New St and turn l. at the lights a little lane will take you down to the cathedral
precinct. On a quiet day you might get parking in the immediate vicinity.
