Expert navigation checkpoint: Shortly after making that right hand turn you will pass a BP petrol
station on the l.

Go through a small r/bout and further on str. ahd on to Chesil St, still following the B3330.

0.6 mi. At the next r/bout take the 1st l. on to Bridge St. You’ll cross a bridge (on Bridge St!!) over
the River Itchen and come to a grassed roundabout. Take the 1st l. on to The Broadway. The
statue of King Alfred will be on your r. just after that turn and the stately Guildhall with its clock
tower will be on your l. The Tourist Information Centre is in that building.

Best idea is to get a park near here. Winchester Cathedral is behind the Guildhall building.

GPS 51.0631, -1.3114 If you turn l. into Colebrook St and l. again around the Guildhall building
there is a carpark close to the cathedral.

To continue to London . . . .

Leaving Winchester: Make your way to the roundabout at the intersection near the statue of
King Alfred. Take Alfie on your right.

Take the first street to the left. (There are no street name signs).

Follow the “All Routes” signs.

At the T i/s turn left.

Bear r. at the lights at the top of Upper Brook St on to St Georges St. (There’s a McDonalds on
that corner – nav. check).

Get into the l. hand lane.

Turn r. on to Jewry St following a s/p “All Other Routes” and a brown-and-white sign “Leisure
Centre / Theatre Royal”.

Expert navigation checkpoint: Look for “The Old Gaol House” pub on your l. just after that turn.
The United Church is right next door to it.

At the traffic lights turn r. on to North Walls. Follow North Walls without making any radical turns.
Look for “The Willow Tree” pub on your r. and immediately afterwards cross over the River Itchen
(Look for the brick walls on the bridge).

After crossing the river bear left immediately on to Wales St. There’s a small street name sign on
the brick building to your r.

Expert navigation checkpoint: The Yellow Dot Nursery is prominent in a white building on the
left.

Follow Wales St and Easton Lane to the junction with the M3. Just follow any sign to the M3.
