After leaving Chester you will dip briefly into Wales – you’ll know by the place names. The Welsh
language is sparse in its use of vowels.
In Chester find your way to the A483 which starts at the Grosvenor Roundabout on on the south
west corner of the city.
0.0 mi 53.1866, -2.8932 Grosvenor Roundabout. Take Grosvenor Rd on to the A483 s/p
“NORTH WALES / Lache / Saltney”.
Expert navigator checkpoint: Just after taking the exit on to Grosvenor Rd, the A483, you will
see a monument consisting of a man upon a horse prominently on your right.
After passing around a town with a jaw-breaker name, Rhosllanerchrugog, and crossing the River
Dee look for Halton Roundabout.
18.9 mi 52.9510, -3.0444 At Halton Roundabout take the 2nd exit s/p “Ostwestry / Shrewsbury” on
to the A5.
The notes from here will take you through Ironbridge Gorge and on to Stratford-On-Avon.
