The two road options for this journey are:-

        Direct

        Chester.

        Route 7 on the map.

        Via Yorkshire Dales

The more interesting route, through the Yorkshire Dales.

What is to be seen and done along the way?

Castlerigg Stone Circle. Castlerigg is perhaps the most atmospheric and dramatically sited of all
British stone circles, with panoramic views and the mountains of Helvellyn and High Seat as a
        backdrop.

It is also among the earliest British circles, raised in about 3000 BC during the Neolithic period.
Unlike many of the 300 stone circles in Britain, this one was not a burial mound.

Dove Cottage It was in this little cottage, at times ‘crammed edge full’ with people, in the heart of
the remote Lake District, that the famous British poet William Wordsworth wrote some of the
greatest poetry in the English language and Dorothy kept her famous ‘Grasmere Journal’, now on
        display in the Museum.

The World of Beatrix Potter If you read Peter Rabbit and/or Jemima Puddle-Duck stories to your
kids at bedtime, or you remember having them read to you, then this is a must visit. Especially if
you have small persons in the back asking “are we there yet”. Give them a break from the rigours
of the road. All the magical characters are there – meet Mrs Tiggy-Winkle, Benjamin Bunny,
Jemima Puddle-Duck and the mischievous Peter Rabbit. Oh, and watch out for Mr
McGregor. He’ll be watching out for anyone who ventures into his garden!

        Windermere

Windermere Lake Cruises. Cruises from 45 minutes to 3 hours – or you can even spend all day on
and around the lake with their Freedom of the Lake ticket. No matter where you start your
journey, Bowness, Ambleside or Lakeside, the voyage gives you views of mountain scenery,
secluded bays and the many wooded islands. Or hire a rowing boat or self drive and view the lake
        at your own leisurely pace.

Skippered Boat Charter. Your own private, skippered cruise aboard a luxury 2000 Sealine F33
Motor Cruiser, perfectly suited to the calm lake conditions. From the flying bridge you can sit and
take in the beautiful lake scenery.

Michael Coates Clay Pigeon Shooting. Fancy yourself as a bit of a hot shot? Whether you have
