THE ENEMY IN-A-ME

Great wealth lled him with violence, and he sinned. [Ezekiel 28:16] For he
said: “I will exalt myself and defy every god there is and tear down every
object of adoration and worship. I will position myself in the temple of God,
and become God.” [2 Thessalonians 2:4] “I will ascend to heaven and set my

throne above God's stars, I will preside on the mountain of the gods far away
in the north. I will climb to the highest heavens and be like the Most High
                God.” [Isaiah 14:13 714]

In his mouth were great boastings and arrogance. [Daniel 7:8, Revelation 13:5]
He threw out the daily worship and set up in its place the obscene
sacrilegeagainst the Temple ceremonies; [Daniel 11:31] he de led God’s
sanctuaries with his many sins and dishonest trade [Daniel 8:11] and
persuaded the nations that the Truth, God’s Word was a lie. He succeeded in
everything he did. Whatever pleased him, he did. [Daniel 8:12b]

He waged war against God’s holy people and overcame them, [Daniel 7:25]
and was given authority to rule over every tribe and people and language
and nation. [Revelation 13:7] He even magni ed and exalted himselfabove
every god and said unheard of things against the Most High God. [Daniel
                11:36]

His power reached to the heavens where it attacked the heavenly armies,

throwing some of the heavenly beings and stars to the ground and
trampling them. He even challenged the Most High God, the Commander of
heaven's armies by canceling the daily sacri ces offered to Him and by
destroying His Temple. [Daniel 8: 10-12a] But the army of heaven was
restrained from destroying him for this sin. [Daniel 8: 12]

The people were persecuted with unceasing blows of rage and the nations
were held in his angry grip. His tyranny was unrestrained. [Isaiah 14:6] He said
I will stop between the glorious holy mountain and the sea and will build my
royal palace there, but your time will suddenly run out, and there will be no
one to help you. [Daniel 11: 45] But instead, you will be brought down to the
place of the dead, down to its lowest depths. [Isaiah 14:15]
