THE ENEMY IN-A-ME

Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: You are not even close to
being a god, because you think you are as wise as a god, a sword will
suddenly be drawn against you and against your marvelous wisdom and
de le your splendor. You will be brought down to the pit, and you will die

there on your island home in the heart of the sea, Will you then boast, I am a
god? You will be no god but merely a man! You will die like an outcast. I, the
Sovereign Lord, have spoken! [Ezekiel 28: 6-10] The Lord Jesus will consume
you with the breath of His mouth and destroy you by the splendor of His
                coming. [2 Thessalonians 2:8]

So God banished him from His Mountain. He expelled him, the guardian,
from his place among the stones of re. [Revelation 12: 9] For those that
followed him, they were thrown into hell, in gloomy caves and darkness until
the judgment day. [2 Peter 2: 4] So God threw him to the earth and exposed
him. He brought re from within him, and great jealousy consumed him. He
let it burn him to ashes on the ground in the sight of all who were watching.
All who knew him are appalled at his fate. He has come to a terrible end, and

                are no more. [Ezekiel 28:17b-19]

In the place of the dead there is excitement over his arrival. World leaders
and mighty kings long dead are there to see him. With one voice they all cry
out, ‘Now you are as weak as we are! Your might and power are gone; they
were buried with you.’ All the pleasant music in your palace has ceased. Now
maggots are your sheet and worms your blanket.

How you are fallen from heaven, O, bearer of the light, O shining star of the
morning! You have been thrown down to the earth, you who destroyed the
nations of the world. [Isaiah 14:9-12] Everyone there will stare at you and ask,
can this be the one who shook the earth and the kingdoms of the world? Is
this the one who destroyed the world and made it into a wilderness? Is this
the king who demolished the world's greatest cities and had no mercy on
his prisoners? The kings of the nations lie in stately glory in their tombs, but
you will be thrown out of your grave like a worthless branch. Like a corpse
trampled underfoot, you will be dumped into a mass grave with those killed
in battle. You will descend to the pit. [Isaiah 14:16-19] You who thought you
were a god, but are not, though you boast that you are like a god. The
mighty man has been destroyed. Yes, your insolence is ended. The Lord has
crushed your wicked power and has broken your evil rule. [Isaiah 14:4a-5]
