Bill Davison
White Starched Shirts
“I can remember when I was a young boy liking to go out with the girls. We always wore a white shirt that was a
dress shirt. The Chinese Laundry always did our shirts for us. They would wash them and starch them and Iron
them. Bill would take them all there to be done and then I would wear them. He had a suit, a nice looking blue suit
and whenever I wanted to go out with a girl I would wear it. He never got a chance to wear it and that’s the suit I
got married in.” Earl Davison from 2003 recorded interview
