Earl, Grace, Robert and Lucy Jane Carter Davison
About Lucy Jane Carter Davison
“My Dad’s mother lived about a block from us. In her later years she fell and broke her hip and had to spend all her
time in her rocking chair. She didn’t get up out of the chair much. We was kind of poor people and didn’t have
much. She lived with her 2 daughters, Aunt Lou and Aunt Grace. And about every day we would stop by and make
sure she was ok. I always kept in close contact with her. She was a short woman, real skinny, with real long white
hair that she always wound up in a bun on the back end of her head. She chewed tobacco. Dad always made sure
she had a little whiskey on hand for medicinal purposes. Always had her a little hot toddy. My dad always made
sure she had a little something. Make sure she had tobacco to chew. She was very nice to me. Very nice, but like
everything else, I don’t remember too much about her.” From a recorded interview with Earl Davison in 2003
