2 Research methodology

2.1 Study
The aim of the study is to develop a model wherein the economic effects of the PowerCem
technology in flood risk areas will be shown. This risk based model has to be applicable for
worldwide purposes. Since it is not realistic to validate such a model on the required scale, an
inductive approach has been adopted. This means that this study will be focused on a smaller
region with specific input data. Following the output of the model, the model will be validated
with the actual values in that region to measure the accuracy of the model.

Such an approach has to be thought out securely up front to reach the aim with the required
quality. The proposed approach is elaborated in this chapter using the following paragraphs:
- Scope.
- Input data.
- Verification.
- Model.
- Validation.

Figure 2.1 shows the workflow of the described approach.
